This piece was published as the cover of Witchtower Magazine in the UK, magazine of the Pagan Network. (Volume 2, Issue 1) (Well, I say published, although I don't believe the issue ever went to print. Their site crashed and they decided to go web-only around that time, and I never received a contributor's copy. It is available for download in their archives section now, though.)
This is one of my all time favorite paintings. I'm a devotee of Brigid, and this one gets me choked up every time. Thank you so much for sharing your art with the internet at large.
Wow, that's really amazing! I love the colors and woman and sheep and... well... everything! Hope I'm allowed to use it (in a tiny format) in a school project? Defnitely going to fav
Lovely shading and colours on this one! The outlines on the folds and her arms seem a bit jagged -- I don't know if that's on purpose or an artifact of compression. You may want to smooth them out a touch next time.
The 'original' is ginormous - over 1600 x 2300 px. So, I'm sure that's some of it. But the stock reference - and a lot of drapery studies I've done - had very, er, 'pointy' folds in the cloth. But, my drapery certainly needs work. I'm trying to do more studies in my home studio... (and yet, am I doing them now? No, I'm playing around on DA. Oops.) :eyeroll:
I think the drapery's good. I just thought some of the darker lines needed a bit more anti-aliasing. I usually work at something like 3000 x 3000 px (or bigger), so 1600 x 2300 px seems a bit on the low side to me!
I'm envious. If I go above 3k x 3k, my computer starts to get so slow and cranky that it just drives me bonkers. Maybe next year I'll be able to afford an upgrade... :eyeroll:
